The Lifeline’s 999 day.
The whole UK Lifeline crew made it to the picnic on 999 day, on what turned out to be a chilly summer’s day in Hyde Park at the Serpentine. Our numbers grew throughout the afternoon with a variety of people turning up via the Facebook announcement and the 999 grapevine. We even had a what we believe was a shaman and her part wolf turn up.

Zeina was filming proceedings and interviewing and probing. On the whole it was a relaxed affair and at 4pm we had our lifeline rope ceremony and we took it in turns to read out the Declaration For All Life on Earth. People then shared their thoughts on the future including a moving speech from the main organiser of the UK’s Big Green Gathering. He relayed his feeling that the environmental and peace movement has been creating amazing positive change ever since the 60s, changing what seemed the impossible, and that we can do it again with the environmental deadlines stacked up against us.

Netty then tied the two ends of the official Lifeline rope and sealed the knot with a message for awareness and best wishes for our mission. We will cut this rope into three sections and send one section each to US and AUS for your own knotty adventures.

We then all trooped of to the British Museum for the Worldshift 2012 Conference. Some passionate and moving speeches and contributions with strong calls for action. The time is now for mass consciousness change and we were at the hub of the initiation movement.

Later in the foyer of the museum the Lifeline was played out around all the people, Phil outlined the Lifeline’s ambitions and we played Calum’s bio on the projector for people to see the sort of films we will be making. Lots of mingling and networking then took place and lots of contacts made. Good news is that the Ecologist Magazine, in partnership with Positive TV, want to take our material and promote us. EM is probably one of the most respected green and eco publications on the world, so we were well pleased with that.
